Founder of Mama Mariam foundation Habiba Sinare, a Ghanaian actress,  has organised a breast cancer screening for residents of Mamobi in the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly on October 22, 2021.

The aim is to help the women in the zongo community have access to breast cancer screening since many can’t afford it.

The Public Relations Officer of the Organisation, Sumaila Horoya Ali in an interview with mynewsafric.com’s Hajar Diko Osman said,  “The mama Mariam foundation is a non- profit  organisation  launched in November last year, which is currently focused on women’s health hence the breast screening since it is a breast cancer awareness month. The foundation is organizing free breast screening in three zongo communities in the Ayawaso East and North constituency”.

Mr. Horoya also intimated that “Even though men also get breast cancer it is rare compared to women, out of 500 breast cases illness, only 1 % will be male”.

The foundation will be extending its free screening to Accra Newtown and Nima on October 23 and 24, 2021 respectively.

We are also working on moving to the Northern Region precisely Savelugu to offer them a breast cancer screening, the PRO added.

Hajar Diko Osman spoke to some beneficiaries of the exercise and they have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the foundation.

One of them, Mariam Abubakar said “everything went on well, they checked my blood pressure, and massaged my breast. I’m very grateful”.

Irene kesewaa ofori on her part noted that “I stay at Dzorwulu but then I came to visit a friend here, I was out yesterday  morning 11am to buy food across the street when I overheard two women talking about it and I didn’t wanna go away because  I knew October is the breast screening month, it’s about the boobs, so I asked the woman about it and she was like it’s today being held at the kanashie station, I even forgot about it, I was gonna buy food just now and I met her again, she asked me if I was I able to come, I said no and I doubted if they will still be here, she insisted I go and she directed me. I am expecting the best, I want to know whatt is going on inside my breast, if I’m ok or not if I am not ok will take the safety measures to become ok and if I am okn., I will just be glad”.
